Sogo Active participant becomes a Olympic Torch Bearer

During the 3 day events held by the BRCC (Baffin Regional Chamber of commerce) Alex Kilabuk from Pangnirtung and Caleb Little from Iqaluit participated in a presentation about entrepreneurship to youth representatives from every communities of Nunavut 

Iqaluit AWR Champonship 2009


For the second edition of the Arctic Wind Riders' Championship we received the participation of 15 enthusiast young riders from nine (9) northern communities , from Nunavut and Nunavik. During the whole four days of racing, we were blessed to get great wind, every day, all day, blowing from the north at 20 to 50 Km/h. The snow conditions on the bay were ideal for speed, yet challenging with hard wind pack snow waves.

Iqaluit Initiation Camp 2007

A new logistical challenge
 
Discovering a new destination is always exciting. Landing in Iqaluit, we discovered the incredible snow and ice park in front of the village, I mean.. town! I quickly realized that Iqaluit is much more spread out than any of the other northern communities we have visited to date. Paraski instructors, Yves Thauvette and Alain Bernier, identified the area in front of the breakwater as an excellent location for the initiation clinics. Given the distance to our clinic location, we changed our plan. Rather than setting up the traditional base-camp tent, we rented a 24-foot cube truck thanks to Rick Gauthier, manager at the Driving Force Car & Truck Rental.
